Accuracy of Information
Government offices can change addresses, telephone numbers, hours, fees, and request procedures. Online record systems also update on schedules that may not match one another. Nothing published by Lancaster County Criminal History is an official record. Confirm a court date or disposition with the Lancaster court clerk, current custody or warrant status with the sheriff, state repository information with Virginia State Police, and a registry listing with the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. A certified or official copy can come only from the agency that issues or maintains it. Virginia FOIA, including Va. Code § 2.2-3706, permits access to qualifying records but also recognizes restrictions for specified law-enforcement information.
